P.S.I.: a controversial novel

P.S.I. is contemporary literary fiction/ erotica.  It's about 4 artists during their unusual rise to stardom: a singer,  a film  director, a writer and a rocker.  Through their eyes, we embark on a global exploration of clashing subcultures. Porn vs. new age.  Robotics vs. creativity.  Hip-hop vs. old money.  Rural vs. glam.  Left wing vs. right wing. 

This entertaining novel is also about sex as metaphor.  The author draws boundaries and pushes buttons with media-satirizing erotica.  P.S.I. nonetheless stays centered in the marketplace of ideas.

From survival through healing to rebel power, here's how the story goes: 

• Sabrina miraculously escapes 2 tragedies: a monster tornado, then a car wreck. Destiny calls her to L.A. where a detour into modeling (for erotic fine art) opens her lighter side.  But will she finally triumph as the lead singer for her dark goth band, Clitorisaurus?

• Ziggy, a lonely professor, moonlights as an S&M director. He lacks both entrepreneurial skill and social savvy. Sabrina forces Ziggy to take her virginity on Halloween, just before he gets catapulted to infamy!  X-rated reality shows are his stepping stone. But he must compete with Deprogram: a torture-based reality show in which contestants' minds get shattered!

• While on the other side of the world, a Jordanian writer is penning a revolutionary book for peace warriors... while working for the army.  Does it seem as if someone is trying to kill him?  Could it be his wife, or is he just getting paranoid? A terrorist attack proves to be both his swan song and his redemption.

• A rocker running low on inspiration and self control takes off to do some world travel .  He barely survives the terrorist attack but gets a new lease on life.

The stories of Ziggy, Sabrina, Todd and Brother Amman will triangulate the truth in the strangest of ways within the genre-exploding pages of P.S.I.

     "Since graduating from Brown University with a B.A. in theater arts, three topics (apart from music!) have consistently held my fascination. 

•     Pressure.  As in, the difficult pressure that rides along the fault lines between people, cultures, pocketbooks, philosophies, and emotions.  The pressure to succeed, to belong, to be hip, to put out, to succumb...

•     Sex.  The exploration of my own sexuality in all its glorious reality and strange perversity: from the mysteries of seduction on through to their complicated aftereffects. 

•     Intuition: that quiet inner voice which once guided me from the sciences into the arts, and (later on) into new age and aboriginal topics.

MC Radiance (aka Russil Tamsen) is a novelist, poet and musician, as well as an actor & playwright. He's been writing since high school.
